PDs are Gone - Government must bin their Health Policies.
Published: 30 January, 2009
Tomás Sharkey has called on Fianna Fáil and the Green Party abandon their planned closures of Hospital Services across the North East. His comments were made after it emerged that the PDs will deregister as a political party at the end of February.
Councillor Sharkey said
"Mary Harney has been Minister for Health for too long. She now has no party and serves no purpose on the Cabinet. I am calling for her to be sacked and all plans to close services to be abandoned. This is a perfect opportunity for the Greens and Fianna Fáil to put an end to what has been a sick joke on the people of the North East. Dermot Ahern recently said that he could think of no better colleague than Mary Harney. If he really does admire all that she has done on our Health Service then I think Dermot Ahern should resign insolidarity with his ideological bedfellows in the PDs.
"From the 28th of February there will be no PD party to blame and any closures of hospital services will be blamed on the 2 remaining government parties."
