Councillor Imelda Munster
Cllr Imelda Munster was elected to Louth County Council in 2004 becoming the first ever-female Louth County Councillor for Sinn Féin. Taking the seat itself was a remarkable achievement for a candidate standing for the first time out. Imelda also polled the second highest first preference votes in her quest to represent the West Gate Ward for Drogheda Borough Council in 2004 missing out on the Borough Council seat by 44 votes. Imelda joined the party in 1985 having been inspired by the sacrifice of the 1981 Hunger Strikers.
