Councillor Imelda Munster

Cllr Imelda Munster was elected to Louth County Council in 2004 becoming the first ever-female Louth County Councillor for Sinn Féin. Imelda joined the party in 1985 having been inspired by the sacrifice of the 1981 Hunger Strikers.

Married to Niall, Imelda is the mother of two young children and worked for Specsavers Opticians for twelve years before giving up her job in 2006 to become a full time party worker managing the Sinn Féin constituency office in Drogheda.

A committed trade unionist Imelda is the former Chair and current secretary of Louth Comhairle Ceantair the governing body for Sinn Féin in Co Louth.
